Lost Soul

Well, the past two weeks have been a roller coaster, and the end result is I lost my treasured aunt last week. She held on until the last minute, slowly slipping away as a result of dehydration and starvation. What a horrible thing to witness - it makes you believe more in what Dr. Kevorkian offers - a quick end to a slow death. Our Aunt Jean - as she was known to all who met her - was an independent, sharp minded woman right up to the end - she even recognized my voice, and those of all her friends and family. It was difficult to see such a vibrant person slowly - excruciatingly slow - drift into a comatose stage and leave us. Sadly, my sister was there when our aunt drew her last breath and her heart - strong as ever - finally gave up. I have lost both parents and now my aunt - I hope I have given enough for a long, long time. I hope the universe can give me a break for about, say, 40 years!!!
