Lock Up Your Lunch

Once a week, Subway will deliver sandwich orders to the school. It’s a great deal, both price and convenience. I have 30 minutes, and that’s not always enough time to go out and eat, and get back in enough time. Plus, any day I don’t have to eat leftovers is a good day. Today, I had a chance to get a chicken burrito from Jack n Grill, which in my book beats a cold sandwich hands down. I had already ordered the Subway, so I left it in the staff lounge hoping to have it tomorrow. Hoping. When I get back to the lounge, my sandwich is gone. Not a trace. I looked in the fridge. I looked in the other fridge. I even looked though the trash – if I found the box, I might be able to i.d. the person who took it (not everyone likes Salt & Vinegar chips). Nothing. Now, I work with professionals. Teachers. Paras. Administrators. People who surely don’t have to steal a lunch. One that had my name on it. MY NAME. So I’m feeling mad – because I paid for it and someone else took it. I’m feeling annoyed - because I now have nothing for tomorrow’s lunch. I’m feeling a little worried because we seem to have a thief in the building. I thought maybe that it just got thrown out – as abandoned food. But it wasn’t in the trash. It was in someone’s stomach. It’s a good thing that I had an awesome smothered chicken burrito with chips and guacamole. If I had not eaten a thing, the whole building would have heard about it. I’m a bit crazy when my blood sugar drops.
