Ah, the quiet

It's possibly the calm before the chaos. This weekend it has been quiet, the phone has finally stopped ringing (Barack has other people to bother, I guess) and the weather is beautiful. Football is on the t.v. of course, and I hear Mark cussing Shanahan and Cutler. Erica is outside with Belle, and I have the door open a bit to hear what she is up to, but also to enjoy the fresh air. We have winterized the house exterior, drained the sprinklers, raked up the last of the leaves, and brought out the snow shovel. In Colorado, you can never be sure when 10 inches of snow will fall. Today has been the best Sunday in a long time. However...... chaos is about to erupt.

In yesterday's mail I received a Christmas card from a cousin in California. Yes, on November 15, my first holiday letter has arrived. Oh, and the last time I was in Walmart, maybe the day after Halloween, they had the music playing already. The "machine" of media and retailers that runs Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, and all the rest into the ground is ridiculous. I put up the blinders, and ignore the t.v. ads and store flyers, and about November 30th, I'm ready to get in the mood. Then, let the chaos begin! I embrace it, I enjoy it! But please, let it not start until then!
