Resolutions

The other day I took down the last part of Christmas... the tree and all it's beautiful ornaments, lights and sparkly garland. That marked the end of "The Holidays" around here. After all the presents are opened (and there were many), and the space beneath the tree is bare, it always looks so sad. Even lighting the tree each night didn't bring back to life the excitement of Christmas, so it was time to put it away until next year. Sadly, with it goes much of the peace on earth and goodwill that many of us share during the last month or so of the year. It was fully apparent as I was driving yesterday and noticed the rudeness of drivers, which had taken a vacation of sorts, was now back, and with extra emphasis. And it wasn't just the drivers on the road - I have to include people in the store, and at the movie theater, where Erica and I went to see Alvin and the Chipmunks - the Squeakwel. Note: don't waste your money - it was pretty bad.... and I guess the PG rating means you can sex up the girl chipmunks, which was disturbing.

Anyway, I don't even need to give you details - rudeness has happened to us all. We have been rude. We tolerate it. But it would be nice if everyone would make a New Year's Resolution that would matter - be considerate to all. It will last a lot longer and touch more people than losing 10 pounds.
