Grapple

The walk to the bus stop this morning was chilly, thanks to Mother Nature's April Fool's joke on us, a spring snowstorm that included thunder, lightning, snow, wind, and grapple, which are pellets of snow. On the way over, all bundled up with only her face showing, Erica says to me, "I wish I had cheek muffs." It's funny to have winter-like weather while the tulips are blooming. But hey, that's Colorado! And even though I don't love winter, I put up with it for these kind of days. The blizzard that came last Friday is already a mere memory, only tales of the rush hour drive home to speak of. Even the grapple from yesterday is already turning to precious liquid for the lawn and trees. Usually we see more weather like this in March, but my husband thinks we are all a month off of the seasonal calendar. Days like we've had lately are proof. So Colorado offers up a variety, something that I love about living here. Something worth putting up with blowing snow and ice-covered windshields. By tomorrow afternoon I'll have on my short sleeve shirt, but by nightfall it'll be heavy socks and sweater, since another round of snow is due. No wonder my closet is full - I need several "seasons" of clothes for one day!
